I don't know if it is similar to the reostat on my '47 BV, But I opened
mine up, and there are , like leaf contacts that were very dirty on the
underside where the contact (switch) actually makes the connection. I used
Deoxit and a cotton swab to clean them and it solved all my problems. If it
is similar, I'd be careful not to bend them whilst cleaning. They seem a
bit fragile.
