In total agreement Dennis, I had a Farfisa Compact back in the day and even as a teenager found it a soulless and unsatisfying instrument.  Plus it had germanium transistors in the circuit that halved the cycles from the tone generator to provide the notes below and above middle C. Here in summer when it got above 75 degrees the pitch of the notes below middle C would slowly revert to the base pitch of the oscillators, one octave from middle C IIRC, so any gig over summer was on. 

I sold it at the beginning of the next winter so the buyer would have it for 3 or 4 months before summer came around for them. It went several times under warranty and was told due to the type of transistors it could not be fixed. Offered me a trade up to an Acetone which at the time my pocket money would not stretch to.     

IMHO these were the earliest tonewheels, and so poorly did they emulate a Hammond I was turned off tonewheels for many years.
