Subject:Re: Jim Alfredson's New Project - Tribute to Big John Patton
I'm getting in the middle of a thread here but from what I just read, generating funds for recording projects is done quite a bit these days.
For ex: the Eagles decided not to use a record company for The Long Way Home. Don Henley is very much anti-record company. Instead, they cut an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart to sell the CD. Sort of the same thing.
Others actually go directly to their fans for the same thing. Usually, this involves some sort of payback or compensation for the funds they contribute.
More power to Jim for his efforts.
It's true. If you are uncomfortable with his methods then ignore him. He is a smart guy and a great player. Sort of like the radio show you don't like. If you don't like it go to another channel or turn off the radio.
