To better stay in touch with my inner miser, I'd likely pick up a used one for such a project. Already located a non-functional Sonic Maximizer that will be just about the perfect donor.

OTOH, I was also able to locate a "low profile" 1U sliding shelf for about $75, which only takes up one rack space, including Vent, instead of a space for the shelf and one more for the Vent.

But even the transplant isn't that involved really. It's just lengthening the cabling to the pots and input/output jacks hanging off the circuit board. I'm not cutting anything on the Vent's pcb.
