Subject:Re: Sk1 or Numa Organ

I have owned and returned both..

Of the two, the NUMA has the best hammond sound, out of the box, however with some tweaking the SK1 can sound almost as good.
The NUMA has very poor support after market support compared to the Hammond, and the NUMA has quirky midi controller functionality.

That said, your description of the extra voices on the SK1 as being "incredible" is very generous.. from my perspective they are merely passable, and the SK1 is missing some sounds (such as warm strings) that no "all-in-one" should be without.  IF you value the extra voices and good after-market support, the SK1 is the better choice.. If you really want the best "out of the box" clone that looks sounds and feels like a real Hammond the Numa is the better choice.

All that said, you might also want to look at the new Roland VR-09.. it's got the Roland VK engine with an upgraded leslie sim, that sounds very nice, and it's also got some reasonably good sample pianos and other sounds, along with a Jupiter style virtual analog synth (including 363 Rolands PCM samples), a great live interface and a free iPad editor for the organ and synth sounds. It's jam packed with sounds and it's ability to create sounds, using the VA synth ,far exceeds what is available on the Hammond SK series... The downside is that it doesn't have the nice waterfall keyboard that you might want for organ, and the organ isn't quite as authentic sounding as either the Numa or the SK1 (but it's not far off) however, the street price is only $999.

Just something else to consider as well.

I had them both for a short time. The Numa has, in my opinion, the better  "Hammond sound".  However nothing on it is tweak-able. You get what you get, a very good sounding Hammond clone. The SK1/2 is highly tweak-able, has Hammond , pipe and other organ sounds. I would not call the extra sounds incredible but very passable for most applications. Hammond (SK1) seems to be more responsive to questions and has better customer support. Again, these are only my personal opinions.
The KeyB solo Mk111, for a little more money is another option if you desire a single manual. Then there is the Mojo if you want two manuals. Good luck in your decision. You really can't go wrong with any of these clones.

Subject: [CWSG] Sk1 or Numa Organ

I know last year I asked these questions and I got some answers but I am now again with this dilemma between buying the Hammond Sk1/sk2 or or the Numa Organ.

I am seeing that a lot of people are loving the Sk1 because of it's Hammond sound plus other incredible sounds like pianos, strings, synths etc It seems to be a very successful keyboard.

But the Numa Organ also sounds incredible:

Give me your thoughts.
