Subject:Re: upgrade to release 7 SK1

bob,
Thanks for responding. We  had company staying with us the past week and I have not been able to spend any time with the SK1. I was holding the wrong 3 buttons of power-up. Everything is working great for the time being. I am busy working on the tone-wheels now. I agree Hammond is not clear with their up-date instructions and that was the cause of some problems, not the brand or size of the flash drive. Leo

Leo,

I know you already installed release 6; so you have to follow the instructions in release 7 that pertain to already having release 4 to 6 which you already have.

After you unzip and save to your computer. In release 7 there is a  folder called: SK_How toUpdateWithBL. Open that folder it gives instructions; BUT at the bottom of the first page  it says for users who updated 4 to 6 copy ONLY 5 files: it then lists the files to copy. Copy them 5 files to your memory stick; and follow the instuctions. Then follow the prompts shown on your display.

IF you was installing release 7 from where we started with release 3 then you would follow the complete instructions copying all files like we did before for release 6.  Not just those 5 files.

I found that after  those files load  it DOES tell you to remove the memory and then turn off. Because you do not have to go all the way through and load the Sload again as you did  with release 6.
You must follow the display promps as there is no way around them. This works!

Hammond/Suzuki is not making these instructions clear enough. On release 7 if there was a difference for people who already had 4 to 6 then it should have been a separate set of instructions for each circumstance. That would make it clearer that just a note in the middle of the instructions that a lot of people may not even see. I thought release 6 was not clear over the SLOAD issue; I am sure that is why some people were having trouble. Some of the problems that people thought was what brand of memory they use may have been due to lack of proper procedure.
