When Sherinian used the Kronos last year, he loaded all his custom patches that he brought with. In fact while working on MacAlpine's rig for the show, the power to the Kronos got unplugged so Derek had to re-program the 61 which only took him a few minutes. He didn't intend to save his sounds on a rented unit I guess.

There is no perfect workstation but in my opinion the Kronos is as close as it gets these days
