The raw sound of the XK-3 series was voiced through a real Leslie (as I understand it). A Ventilator accomplishes the same thing. I run my Ventilator from the 11 pin output with the internal simulator bypassed. Using 11 pin adapter I have full control (Fast, Brake, Slow) from my presets and half-moon switch and I can put the Ventilator in my rack extending it to the keyboard with a standard 11 pin Leslie cable. Also I use a custom tonewheel set The XK-3(c) has an incredible amount of granular adjustment available via programming. I do wish there was more control over the C/V programming but nothing is perfect and I never did use a lot of C/V anyway. The C/V was modeled after the 70’s B3 which was not the best sounding era for the consoles IMHO.

Subject: [CWSG] Heard the vent
I finally heard the ventilator live…Wow!
Last week I went to a live of a deep purple tribute I know well (not
really my music but I like to listen), held in a venue they had played
already a few months ago.
The previous time the organ (XK3c) sounded plain simple horrible to
these hears, this time from the very first notes the difference was
stricking…I looked at it carefully and noticed the ventilator pedal
parked on the floor. Had the occasion to chat with the player, he said
he had bought it a few months ago and is very happy with the sound.
And he used to haul around a Leslie for important gigs…
Even the percussion sounded MUCH better through the vent…And I HATE
the sound of VASEIII percussion!
Would really love to try it for a while or at least to hear it in a
more familiar context.
