Subject:Re: Electro 2 plus DB-1 drawbars or Electro 4 ?
Hi Rafael -- Read through the responses to this post and could not find one in favor of the NE2 option. To be honest, I'm considering upgrading to the NE4/73 for all of the reasons given.
But here are a few reasons by the NE2 is better than the NE3 or NE4:
- knobs for adjusting effects depth are right there... not just preset amounts.
- 8 presets at a button's touch away.
- more stylish rounded sides.
- no ugly silkscreen painted on the front (yes its useful, but ugly).
- usually less than $1000 on ebay. buy two of them!
- your audience (and probably the band) will think either one sounds awesome.
- i've heard the clavinet is better (can't really confirm this myself).
- i've heard that the wurlitzer sounds better (can't confirm this either, but it does sound awesome).
- the NE2 keyboard seems less spongy to me (I've played both NE3 and NE4D).
- adjustable keyboard velocity curves (conspicuously missing on NE3).
- comes with an excellent user manual that includes historical and mechanical details about the instruments it is modeling. :)
Yeah, I'm getting a NE4/73 for these reasons:
- MIDI over USB support
- samples (i want to add my own)
- tap-tempo delay (any delay at all for that matter)
- reverb
- farfisa model
- has two more preset buttons than the NE3 (they really hosed that up on the NE3)
- 73 keys
- and of course the highly-touted organ and leslie models (i'm sure they are MUCH better, though i'm quite happy with the NE2 sounds)
Question is, will I be able to keep my NE2? Will I want to? I just can't say... -pc
