Subject:On-topic vs. Off-topic
Hi All,
There seems to be some confusion about what I, the lead moderator,
define as 'OT.' Let me try to clarify.
* A question about how to get a clone to sound more like say, a 1963
B-3 is, has been, and always will be ON-topic. Even if the
discussion moves into how the electronics inside the B-3 work, the
position of the controls, or the affects of aging on the tone,
that's all on-topic. I've never questioned this point.
* If the question is, "I've got the opportunity to by an A-100 for
$1,000. Good deal or not?" Is that fair game? I think this is
OFF-topic.
* Similarly, a discussion about chopping vs. restoring a BV, or
getting a laptop to stop hanging up, or where to buy a Trek II
percussion unit, are things I consider OFF-topic.
There are other forums that discuss these topics, ones whose purpose is
discuss Hammond Organs; Hamtech and Organize come to mind. (I'm not a
member of either of them.) Yes, the CW members here may have knowledge
in those areas, but that's not the same as deciding to discuss them on
our forum. That's the question we are debating.
