Subject:Re: heresy: nord versus module?

Mike,
All the organ clones have their good points and bad points.
Nord has the C/V nailed. Percussion is pretty good. Key click is a bit much even at low settings.
I still like them ok mainly because it only weighs 11 pounds.
As for the Nord pianos, I'm not sure why Nord bothers with them if they can't do any better than that.
I've had a beef with the Nord pianos since they've been out and I've had three Electros.
Adding string resonance and velocity curves won't help a bad sample/simulation.

I currently use the iGrand and iLectric on an ipad midi'd to my Nord E4.
Nord adds bells and whistles to the pianos but it doesn't help the horrible sound.
The high end is so thin it's almost nonexistent in the mix.
I've tried all their pianos via downloads and they all sound about the same. BAD.
I have to say the iGrand is pretty darn good for an ipad app.
Not as good as a Yamaha Motif but very usable in a band setting and good meat across the entire range.

Subject: [CWSG] heresy: nord versus module?

I'm going to say something a little heretical here.....

i think the nord organ sounds are great, but the pianos are...hmm....less than stellar. I use my kurzweil microensemble for piano, and rhodes.

since i have the nord stage revision B, (and cannot access the stage 2 hammonds), I'm thinking of returning to my trusty Kurzweil pc 88(still my favorite controller), and going back to using a hammond module.

what module compares in authenticity to the organs on the nord stage B?

Thanks in advance

Subject: [CWSG] Killer B3

Hi all,

I wanted to let the group know that I recently acquired a killer T-shirt to help with the Kickstarter campaign for the new documentary Killer B3. I have lots of guitar T-shirts in my wardrobe and I have always wanted to add some kind of B3 shirt and this is the one. It has beautiful graphics. On the disappointing side I also acquired a 30 minute documentary from the movie featuring Tony Monaco, unfortunately the drop card they sent did not work. When I contacted them they were really good about it crediting my account for the full purchase even though I told them to charge me for the T-Shirt they sent me. They said they would provide me with a new link to access the video, once I have watched it I will report my impressions to the group. Once again if you want a really great B3 shirt this is it. No I was not paid to say this I just really like the T-shirt. I plan to wear it at the Larry Goldings trio performance at the upcoming TD Ottawa International
Jazz festival coming up shortly. I have listened to a few tracks from Larry Goldiing's new CD and it sound like a wonderful B3 ensemble. I know of Larry Golding's tasteful stylings from his years backing James Taylor, should be a great concert.

David
