I did a rental for Dr. Lonnie Smith about 3 years ago in Portland Oregon
that was filmed ( or taped.... or whatever) for this movie.
I am curious if this footage will make the final cut. Lonnie was BURNING of
the night they shot the footage and was playing with a rhythm section from
Vancouver B.C. The gig was at the Blue Monk in Portland Oregon.
The rental consisted of a 1959 A 100 with two 145's. I wish I still had the
A 100, because it was pure magic. This A 100 had a factory back, so it
looks kind of unique.
By the way , on the same night I did a blindfold test for Dr. Lonnie. I had
him play a Casio that was hooked up to my old Roland VK8m, which I had
hidden under a blanket. The same unit I wrote about many times when I had it a
few years ago.
Anyway, Lonnie thought he was getting that sound out of the Casio. He
agreed with me that the chorus vibrato and the overall sound was pretty good.
