Subject:SK1 "weighting" ?
I talked to Ray at Hammond about how "weighted" the sk1 88 keybed is. The best he could tell me was that it is NOT a hammer action keyboard and there are no weights(unlike the Nord stage). I have played the sk1 61 and 73..they have a decent feel for piano, but still not that "weighted hammer feel". The lack of the hammer action makes it
hard to play piano sounds agressively. The sk1 61/73 action reminded me of the M Audio 88 key piano with the semi weighted spring feel. I called Sweetwater, but no one there had played the sk1 88 and they didn't have one open on their display floor. The only thing I can conclude from all of this, is that the SK1 88 is simply the sk1 61/73
keybed with heavier springs. That would not make it more piano like..it would just make it harder to play either organ or piano. I hope someone on this board can play one and give an objective assessment.
