Hello Bobby -

I am afraid that the Nord Electro 3 does indeed require a MIDI-USB device to connect to an
iPad. This is because the Electro 3's USB port only functions as a loader and unloader of
voices, and does not carry any MIDI at all, neither IN nor OUT.

Spend 40 bucks or spend 5. I have this no-name product and it works perfectly:

sc=1 That way, if it doesn't work with the camera connection kit you won't be as pissed off. ;-)
However, doesn't the Nord have a USB port? You shouldn't even need this.
