If I wasn't clear, my apologies.. I have an iRig Midi interface sitting on my desk beside me.. I tried it on my iPad 2 and it was crappy.. it doesn't seat into the connector properly, and the slightest movement seems to dislodge it, and when I tried to get it working with various applications, it worked with some, but not with others.. surprisingly, it didn't work with IK apps, and it worked on some other apps I had..
 
So I completely gave up on it.. I didn't even bother trying to fix it or understand what was wrong.. the fact that the connection between the iRig Midi adapter and the iPad was poor, it was obvious that it wasn't going to be sturdy enough for a live gig situation, as I dance around and stab my keyboards with knives etc..
 
I went out and purchased a Griffin Studio connect, and it's sitting beside me.. it has audio and midi, all in one, AND the ipad seats into the interface and it acts like a stand for the iPad..  Here's a link you can check it out.

That said, I haven't tried it yet, so it might not work at all!!! I'm just too busy.. but it looks like it makes a better physical connection even if it's just gravity keeping it in place..  I probably won't have time to try this for another week or two.. if I do I will report back.

Craig   So you have used the iRIG Midi unit ?? and connected it ?  and your own personal experience has not been positive ?  Just wondering if it is actual usage or hearsay ??

It seems to me .........
The actual usage and connection of the iRig to an iPad it seems to me would be unhandy especially in a
group/live scenario ...as you would need the whole setup to lay flat ...and as in using sheet music for a performance it needs to be in the upright position....to mainly see the page of sheet music or iPad or even a laptop ...and then having this iRig device hanging off from a usb connection seems precarious at best ??

You sure could not sit or lay the iRig setup on your keyboard ...so ?????

I know the iApp stores sell those attachments to hang the iRig/iPad setup on a mic stand or what ever you have ....

Just IMHO ...

I have not tried this or seen it setup ..this is just the way i picture the iRig connecting to iPad ...

I am not trying to be negative here ..just thinking of setup an ease of use ...

From my experience the iRig midi connector is crap.. Stay away from it, it doesn't seat securely and it works on some apps and not on others.. I never bothered to try to sort out the issues I just have up.
