An iPad 3 with a 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB storage in it is the best way to go with these organ and keyboard emulators if your keyboard is not USB midi capable. The iPad 3 has 1GB of RAM and some other improvements over the earlier iPads for smoother playing. The ipad 4 has a different socket for midi and charging than the iPad 3, so the iRig Midi connection kit for old 5 pin round midi won't fit into it without another adapter between. You can still go USB with iPad 4 though. iRig Midi connector is expensive so if you can find one used on eBay or an alternative connector or use a USB keyboard all the better. If you buy iRig Midi connector new you get some free virtual instruments after you register it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w-rnp_m9bI
