Subject:Re: SK1 Release 6 Upgrade question
Release 5 had an internal change in the update process and a new type of file was added to the zip file of files. It was determined that after installing Release 5 that particular file needed to be deleted from the USB drive or it would just trigger the start of the update every time the SK was powered on. Release 6 corrected that and now that file is deleted automatically as part of the update process. Also, all of the System Libraries are included in every update zip file. Once the newest System Libraries are installed it is unnecessary to install them again during the next software update. If you want you can save some time by leaving the System Libraries off of the USB drive that you use for updates. You might move them to a different directory so you have them on the drive just in case. The simplest thing is to just put everything on the drive and let it install everything but that can take close to 20 minutes or so depending on the speed of the drive.
Another tip is once you start adding extra Libraries and saving patches that use them it is best to save Whole setups for backup. Whole setups contain the additional installed libraries as well as the patches and parameter settings. This way if you remove a library to make room for a different one but later want to use a setup that has patches that need that library the libraries used in that setup file are loaded as well.
