Subject:Re: OT: need info to see if this is worth it

The first is just VB3, no real leaslie involved actually…And the second, a real C3 without any tinkering on my part, is still the closest i've got to THAT sound so far.

The second recording has more clarity and more of an "in your face" kind of sound. They both sound like hammonds to me, each with very nice tone, but despite your suggestion that they were recorded using the same recording techniques, THAT is what sounds different (one sounds close and the other sounds like it has more reverb and it's sitting in a big hall)..

Keep in mind: (almost) same band, same organinst, more or less same registers, same recorder.

I also own a Korg CX3 which I've been using for a long time, and now I just got a hammond SK1. There's nothing like the sound and feel of a real hammond. I get to play everyone's clone rig because the hammond community is pretty tight around here, I've been on everything except the mojo. But when I get behind the real thing there's still something about it. But honestly, that difference is getting smaller and smaller. And I'm a really fussy organ guy who hates playing acoustic piano, would rather play a wurly or rhodes any day over an acoustic piano. But organ is definitely my thing.
