I am not familiar with the fastrack, but on the MOTU, if you want to use headphones, you need to send the audio to the headphone out in the DAW or VST host program. In other words, main out (typically the default), and headphone out, are independent.

If your program has meters, check the master out in the VST host or DAW program and see if there is any activity there.

Probably - I think the headphone socket monitors audio IN. Connect using the rca jacks to a mixer and then amplifier or straight to amplifier via an rca to stereo input or just a mono (left) connection to test if it is working. If you wish to run mono out to can set this in Cantabile but first see if you are getting the left channel audio.

I just have the phones plugged into the M-Audio headphone jack. No mixer. Am I missing something major here?
