Subject:Re: need help problem-solving my VST setup
I assume that the power management settings for the USB root hub in the
device manager have been set correctly? This was something that seemed to
cause me problems until I unchecked it. It would put my controller in sleep
mode and act flaky.Might want to try it??? YMMV.

Subject: Re: [CWSG] Re: need help problem-solving my VST setup
I suspect that either there is a log jam using 3 midi controllers, probably
a conflict in device drivers, or the the sound card is being overloaded.
I use an outboard (USB) processor (M-Audio Fastrack) to minimise latency and
to remove the sound processing load from the internal card. These also come
with their own custom ASIO drivers. These and similar outboard processors
will involve some expenditure (around $140) so first you may like to test
the following.
It seems as if it all worked until the lastest addition of controller or
VST.
First I would check to see if the issue can be isolated to one VST or a
particular combination of VST's.
Also does this occur after you move from one patch to another? Is it
possible one VST is not 'suspending' when you move to another patch?
BTW what VST's are you using?
In addition to maximising system resources as described in the previous post
if the above doesn't isolate the cause then try the following:
Test for controller device conflicts, choking of USB channel, test using one
only and see if the issue arises, and then progressively add the second
controller and test and then the third. Does it only occur when 2 or more
are used simultaneously or after 2 or more are used simultaneously?
>> I suggest you also go to the KVR Manufacturers forum and drill down to
Top Ten (the makers of Cantabile).State your problems there and you WILL get
help
I have not had a positive experience in seeking help on VST's on KVR, often
responses are limited to one word such as "Junk". If you cannot resolve the
issue then you might like to try Brad direct at TopTen. He may be able to
narrow down the most likely cause.
