With a smile I readily admit to being one of those folks owning a vent yet
crazy enough to haul a Leslie. At each gig I must give at least five
"grand tours" of the "spinning thing". Never in my life has there ever
been a better conversation starter.

That aside -- There is a richness that comes from the lower rotor of a 122
that can never be duplicated. When laying down a "pad" on a slow blues
nothing can beat the effect of angels flying around the room as my Leslie
growls, whimpers, shouts, and moans the turnaround to sweet minor sevenths
telling the story of Stormy Monday Blues.

I do not pretend to be any kind of great player, but I attempt with
everything in me to give the same kind of experience that gave me
goosebumps and chills when first the experience of a Leslie came into my
life - a very long time ago. Very few of my gigs require a mic on the
guitar amp or Leslie. In this context I believe (or Project) that every
person in the room becomes part of the experience rather than a passive
bystander.

It is not my intention to rebut, rebuke, or rehash vent vs Leslie. When my
body no longer has the ability to move the furniture, or a tube explodes,
or a stage is just too small --- the vent will be in my van ready to
stand in.

Every gig I feel like the luckiest guy in the world, notes hit the back of
the head, angels spinning around the room, a smile on my face. Life is
good..
