Jim, Thanks for your suggestion. I'll give it a try. I'm open to any and all ideas.

I wasn't sure if you were using 2 keyboards or not. Even with 2 keyboards, recording the audio of the SK-1 playing the MIDI file and then using the SK-1's Music Player to play the audio file rather than the sequencer sending the MIDI file would still simplify your setup. And you would have 2 live keyboards to play along with the audio file. You might even find that the SK-1's EVs aren't that bad and work your way down to 1 keyboard for the whole show.

> Hi Jim, Thanks for replying to my post. What you are saying would happen if both the MIDI file and expression pedal were being used to control the expression (volume) at the same time. I don't need them both to control the volume at the same time. But for any particular song I load into the sequencer I may need the sequencer controlling the expression - for this I would need the expression source set to MIDI. I would probably be playing a piano or trumpet patch on another keyboard. The next song I may play the organ sound live and need to control the volume with the expression pedal. But because the expression source is set for MIDI I would not be able to control the volume. I would need to go into the menu and set the expression source to pedal(rev). Like I mentioned this is not a problem on the CX3.

Playing the EV's live while the MIDI file plays the organ would have the organ raising/lowering the EV's volume sometimes while you working the expression pedal live would be raising/lowering them both too. I think the way to get what you want would be to record the audio of your MIDI file playing the organ and then using the SK-1's music player to play the audio files. It has its own independent volume so once you have the audio of the organ (with its included volume changes) recorded you could set the music player's volume to match your EV's. You could then also play the organ live when you wanted to along with the EV's with or without the music player.

In order for the SK1 to respond to expression (volume) changes from the sequencer, the 'expression source' must be set to MIDI. When this is done you cannot control the volume with the pedal. If you have the 'expression source' set to ped(rev) the SK1 will not respond to volume changes from the sequencer. So on songs where I play the organ live the 'expression source' must be set to ped(rev) and on songs where the sequencer is 'playing' the organ part the 'expression source' must be set to MIDI.
