At first I thought no way can this be right, but then I did some thinking and listening. I did a demo a while back with the SK1 through a real leslie, a vent, and the onboard sim. I liked the leslie best, but couldn't choose between the onboard or vent. I thought the vent sounded better if I needed distortion, but liked both. Well, I've just spent over 2 hours comparing and I have to admit the vent definitely narrows what it lets through more than the onboard and the real leslie. I'm trying my best to deny this since I have a vent and love it, but I gotta lie to my ears to do this! Maybe it can be fixed with settings, I don't know? But if ever Hammond gets the distortion up to the level of the vents, the vent people are in serious trouble!
