Jan Hammer is a stunning musician. I had the pleasure of speaking with him when I was performing at the Montreaux Jazz Festival waaawaay back in the 80s.He was sitting in on drums at a club in the bottom level of the Casino(Yes, the one Smoke on the Water inspired). Killer jazz drummer. He's played drums on many of his solo albums.
He performed with a French violinist named Didier Lockwood at the Festival. I got to watch a rehearsal. He had his Lynx keytar and a double rack of Oberheim SEM modules. Although Lockwood had a guitar player as well, Hammer smoked him off the stage.
I saw him with Jeff Beck years ago as well. He's the reason I started using a compressor on my Rhodes. Mark
