To set the Vent up correctly:

1. Set the Vent's Drive knob to zero, and the Gain switch to Lo Gain
(out). Set up a 'solo' volume on the clone of choice, using any
combination of volume, gain, and effects that you would typically use.

2. Pull out a bunch of drawbars. Hold down a 8-10 note 'palm gliss'
Look at the Overload LED: It should come at least 40-50% of the
time, but NOT solid red. This is pretty much the optimum set point.

3. If the Overload LED doesn't come on at all, turn up the volume or
gain until it does. If the controls are already at maximum, then
push the Gain switch in and adjust again. If you still can't get
the LED to light, just turn everything all the way up on the organ.

4. If the Overload LED is on all the time, turn down the volume or
gain until it flashes on and off with the palm gliss.

5. Now, set the Drive knob for the amount of warmth/growl/drive/etc.
you want on solos.

6. There are a couple of different ways to dial in and out the
growl. I normally set everything up on my NE3 so that when the
Volume and Gain knobs are at '10,' I get a Gregg Rolie kind of
sound. Then, I back the Gain knob down to clean things up. The
Volume knob is also OK, but in my method, Volume is for solos vs.
comping, while Gain is for the overall tone.
