Sorry if I offended you.. the expression "I call bullshit" is generally seen as a funny expression (from a game called "bullshit").. I was simply trying to be humerous as I corrected you on your harmonic beating suggestion. No offense was meant!!
However, the fact remains that you were mistaken.. there is no harmonic beating on this recording.. the sound you hear is nothing more than a "close mic" setting on the Ventilator which mimics (superbly) the various settings for mic placement from 20 feet away to jammed right into the leslie cabinet! If you are a hammond player you may be used to sitting at a hammond in one corner of the room, with your leslie speaker on the other side of the room, what you will hear is a multitude of reflections, and this is very different from how a close-miced leslie sounds, or how a leslie sounds if you're sitting right next to it. A lot of recordings, especially rock recordings, have the leslies are "close-miced" and that's the sound that many of us want to emulate.. Santana, Steppenwolf, Rare Earth etc.. almost all of the classic rock albums that many of us grew up listening to were close-miced leslies..
Perhaps you didn't grow up listening to this, or this is simply not the way you like to hear your Hammond/leslie, as such you won't particularly like the sound of the ventilator (at least not on a close-mic setting), whereas many others like myself, absolutely love it.
Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, but if/when blatant mistakes are made in this forum, the members need to speak up to ensure that know one is misled.

Hi Rob Thank you for your pleasant reply which is more than i have gotten from some members ie; "bullshit" etc and being shot down.I thought each member was entitled to their own opinion which is what i was giving i have used the vent i have owned Hammond's and Leslies i don't like the Vent my opinion which i believe like everyone else I'm entitled to. The harmonic beat which i referred to ( maybe a wrong terminology) seems to me when the imaginary rotor reaches a point where it is louder in a certain part not smooth like a real Leslie that's all i was trying to say not get into any argument I'm too long in the tooth for that my apologies if i have upset anyone it was never my intention Thank You

To me, Calvin's recording sounds exactly like ( or perhaps better than ) the
BV/122 rig that I owned and played for many years.
So I guess you don't like the sound of a Hammond console thru a Leslie
speaker ?
If you want to hear real harmonic beating, try a Hammond/Suzuki XB-2 through
a Leslie 145 ....... its like fingernails on a chalk board .........
I suspect that what you're hearing is the upper drawbar overtones which are
quite predominant in this recording probably as a result of the digital mike
placement, but a real leslie would sound almost exactly the same, with the
same drawbar combination and mike placement.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, which has been previously
expressed here. I doubt that many organists would agree with you, and that's
my opinion.
