Thanks for that link, Randy !
I was very interested to see the comments by the second guy about the EV ELX-112 P speakers, as I have purchased a pair for my Mojo organ.
These were recommended to me by a local pro-backline rental company here, who use them ( as well as QSC K 12's ) for monitor wedges on some large stages.
They found the EV's (ELX series) to be every bit as good and as loud as the QSC's, and with a warmer tone because the EV cabs are solid plywood.
These ain't cheap at $599.00 ea. Cdn. but they have volume and tone for days in my 10 piece band, ......and are complete overkill for my organ trio, lol !
I did try the QSC K series powered speakers but couldn't justify the higher price for my needs.
YMMV
Cheers/Rob
PS Ken Hall.......are you sure you wanna put your K-8's on an X-stand ?? ....you're a brave man "o"...even a Newfoundlander wouldn't do that, lol !

This is a very interesting discussion for me, as I have recently been rethinking my amp set up and looking for other options. (I currently have a pair of JBL Eon 15XTs that sound pretty good.) Like most of you guys, I would love to ditch the mixer; it looks like both the EVs and the Motion Sound would allow that. I'm concerned about the bass, though, since I play left hand bass in both my groups. Having to bring a sub would kind of defeat this attempt at streamlining my rig. Also, re: the new EVs - they seem to be very hot on the Keyboard Corner discussion, but this thread by pro sound guys kind of gives me pause: http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?topic=144643.0

Fox,
I appreciate your suggestions with the Motion Sound stuff. I tried many combinations of it until I got the Ventilator. Then I got the QSCs and loved the sound of that combination. I recently decided to set up an extra X-keyboard stand with a 1x2' piece of plywood on top. I set both K8s on it, angled slightly away from each other and that sounded fantastic!. The horns were just below ear level and I could hear everything clearly. The Leslie sim sounded very good. So I guess that's similar to the KP500S type arrangement. Anyway, that works for me. I'm considering the EVs just so I can ditch the small mixer that I need to drive the QSCs. We'll see.
Cheers, Ken
