Apple sticks to MAP because they are a monopoly within that operating system. Look around at the other PC companies and you find very high price completion.

In my 45 plus years of buying musical equipment, I always got (what I thought was) great deals on new equipment. In some cases, I sold my 2 year old instrument for around the same price as I purchased it new.

With all the online musical dealers, it has become even more competitive. Even Sweetwater will cut you a great deal if you just tell them that "ABC Music" is selling this VR09 for $850. Like when dealing for autos, you just have to be prepared to walk away. Believe me, someone will gladly take your money. Because they know that the next schmuck coming in through the door will probably pay list price. It all evens out for them. Like in "Money For Nothin'"... "We gotta move these 'frigerators... We gotta move these color T.V.'s..."

Regarding Yamaha, I bought my two motifs right when they first came out. The MAP for the Motif XS7 was about $2200. I paid $1925. I got a similar deal on my Motif ES7.

Regarding promotions, it is true that this adds to the savings for the customer, if you know how to deal. But the brand new EV's are probably not being promoted right now, unless hey totally want to bury QSC. I think they could do that even with their MAP of $399. Pro Audio Sound wants to move these speakers... And they know if they don't take my money, someone else will.

Go into all your negotiations like that. Unless its a house, or a one of a kind item, always negotiate from a position of strength.
