Subject:Re: OT QSC K10 vs K12
I purchased 5 of the QSC K12's. 4 for a portable PA system. I also have one QSC sub.
One k 12 was to run my keys through. I use a Korg M3, a Kurzweil PC3k8 midi'd to some rack modules. I used to use a KC500, then went to a JBL eon 15 and now the QSC k12.
First, I assume that you will be using a small mixer of some sort to boost your signal, along with some fx as needed.
I listened to both the 10 and the 12. As you indicated, the 12 WILL give you more of the punch for the lower end. It is a bit bright for my taste on the upper, thus my comment about the mixer (EQ).
Yes, it is heavier than the K10, but IMO, it is worth it.
You may want to get a speaker stand for it, especially if you play outside gigs.
The sound disperses fairly wide and quickly (at least for me) when I play outside gigs.
Indoor, no problem.
Make sure they toss in the carrying bag in with it.
Lastly. I saw this in a video.
Go to a neighborhood carpet place and get one of their remnants for free.
What I did was take a small piece of partical board and glued the carpet to it.
It fit the side of the K12 bag perfectly, so that the speaker side would never get damaged due to lack of thickness protection on the speaker side of the bag. The wood and the carpet created a great barrier for anything that might damage the speaker side through the normal bag.

Forget all that. Get the new electro voice 12 inch powered monitor for $330.

I know the K10 is about ten lbs lighter but will it handle low end piano and organ? I know it would be ideal to have two but I can't afford it.
