I had both a while ago and that was my conclusion as well. If you're doing full range reproduction you might opt for the K12 as it might better handle some really deep bass and kick sounds. But for keyboard monitoring I didn't find any difference between them on the low end.

(Maybe if you do left hand bass the K12 might offer some extra girth, but I don't do that and didn't really evaluate them with that in mind.)
