Rather than sell his house to be put in the hands of someone not interested in what he'd built, he donates it to like-minded who would preserve it. Gotta respect that.

Thank you for that information. It sounds right. That engineer was a business associate of my father's (an engineer who had by that time moved into the executive side of things), and I remember fondly my Dad saying that I absolutely had to see this guy's house. He arranged an introduction and I spent an evening getting a tour of the engineer's workshop. I remember he was hooking up drums, bells, and even a piano with couplers, to be triggered by various manuals and the pedals.
That engineer later retired, and rather than selling his house, he donated it, with the built-in pipe organ and theater organ, to a local music college.
