Ok... so I do have some opportunities to jam with some local folks and would be nice to have something more portable than the B. What would you think about an XK 3C and Leslie? Or XK 3C and Vent?

Ja
And I know this has been said 1000 times before .....but i will say it again ..
I do not believe any one of us (tho I can not speak for everyone ) Hammond lovers....would not rather play the real deal !
That said .. It is only age, energy level, etc etc etc .not having the right vehicle to move a Hammond around ..
that keeps me from playing the Beast ...every chance i can ....
Then there is the fact that when one can get an "all in one" keyboard that is light and easy to transport well i got to
a place in my life where i am making it a bit easier on me ....
So more power to you ..stay with what you love as long as you can ...as long as your strength and energy and will to keep on playing your Hammond,,, as long as your body and mind can keep you going ...DO IT ...
as always IMHO
Mike

You know... as good as a lot of the clones are, and some of them really sound good... I still can't get past that warm, rich, "organic" sound of a B3 and Leslie. Wish I could, cause then I could get rid of mine and get something like an XK 3C with a vent to carry around.

I heard the Alfredson video and any time that he gets into that last
(upper octave).... there it is, the Hammond Suzuki
chorus vibrato ( examples around 2:54, 4:11 etc.). He doesn't always hang
on it very long, but there it is. Love it or leave it.
By the way , I was very bugged when J,A. got on another forum and claimed
that the SK stuff was going to make the Nord Electro "obsolete".
I haven't seen evidence that this is the case at all based on the Hammond
Suzuki extra sounds.
I probably need to let this go, and go clean my room.
