Subject:Re: A few days with the new Roland VR-09
Pete..
- YES all adjustments are available (and pretty easily accessible) from the menu in the VR-09 so there is no need for the iPad editor
- I never owned a Vox or Farfisa organ so I'm not a good one to review this aspect of the VR-09 but if I'm not mistaken the design for this combo style organ is one drawbar for sawtooth wave one drawbar for sine waves and then various other drawbars for different frequencies.. I think this is the Farfisa design but I could be wrong.. I really haven't played around with it yet..
- unfortunately there are no mellotron sounds, as such, but there is a patch called Oct Str which has a mellotronish tone to it, and there are some good choir sounds and the a good flute sound called "N Flute" which has a real Sgt Peppers tone to it, but it's an "Natural" sound (part of the Roland supernatural voices) and it has some weird voicing/polyphony issues. So no mellotrons but some sounds tones but I think I'll be able to get by with what's in the instrument
Hope this almost answers your questions.
Craig

Are all the adjustments available in menus somewhere, or do you HAVE to have the iPad/ipad app to edit some things? I wouldn't want to have to buy an iPad just to edit the Roland. Also, is the Combo organ mode all pretty much vox styled combo organ, or can you get some buzzier Farfisa too? Were there any decent mellotronish voice/choir sounds? Thanks in advance.
