For portability, economy, versatility of not having to be mic'd, ability to be plugged right into a board, etc. the Vent really is great. But at the same time, I still think an old Leslie 122, 147, 145 has it beat for overall sound quality. You just can't duplicate actual moving air.

Subject: [CWSG] OB-3 w/Vent
I haven't used my "Midi" rig for some time - Yamaha NP-30, OB-3 organ box, A/B switch & small Behringer BX1200 (w/balanced DI to PA), but needed to get it out for a telethon this weekend due to limited room & access. This was the first time I had the Vent in the chain and I must admit the OB-3 never sounded better. In fact a veteran soundman from a local firm that did the mixing came up and made a note of the Vent info to pass along to other players he knew - he said it was the best sounding - and with a DI to the board the easiest to mix he had worked with in a long time.
I agree with an earlier post - my old mantra of "Get a Leslie" is now "Get the Vent"
Matt
