Subject:Voce Micro B revisited
A friend came over a couple weeks ago and asked if I might be interested in
a Voce Micro B.
I found a Yamaha PSR 170 that works pretty well as a controller for this.
You don't need "split" function...it's self contained in the Micro B, though
it only uses 3 programs with split bass. Anything else is fairly useless
to me.
All in all, the Micro B doesn't sound too bad. One of the split programs
gives you the 9th drawbar plus percussion if you want it- which sounds kind
of interesting with second harmonic percussion.
The thing that kind of bugs me about it is that the key click is pretty
loud, even if you turn the keyclick knob all the way down. Plus, it sounds
slightly out of time.
If there was a way around the key click, I could see a certain amount of
use that I might be able to get out of this. The slow leslie isn't too bad.
The chorus vibrato is not accurate which is too bad, and fast leslie is also
not really useful.
But the Voce drawbar sound comes through pretty well overall.
I don't know..... I just thought I would write and see if anyone else is
using any early Voce stuff.
