Very cool!  I’ve been enjoying messing around with (and tweaking) SK1’s Extra Voices so much lately that I haven’t even gotten around to giving a listen to all of the Organ presets yet!  I can’t get over how versatile the keyboard is (and how involved one can get in programming).  I had no idea how customizable  it could be when I bought it so these are all bonus features.  Over the weekend, I generated a dozen or so drum beats using Band-In-A-Box, converted the loops into .wav files, loaded then onto a USB thumb drive and played them thru the SK’s MUSIC PLAYER section.  Using the instrument’s dial, it’s very easy to quickly scroll thru the song list to select the file you want and then hit the PLAY button.  Works really slick and it was smart of H/S to include a separate volume control as well as the ability to start/stop the beat with a foot switch.  Very cool and works like a charm.  Really enjoyin’ my SK, thus far.

Subject: [CWSG] extra voice rhodes on SK1

I just spent my whole lunch hour in the studio, messing with the rhodes patch on the SK. THis has always been my favorite since I got the SK, but today I actually fired up the rhodes right next to it and ABed them both. Using the SK keyboard, the SK's barks a bit more, but the sound on both is very close if played lightly. Bell's right, tone's right, the stereo tremelo is actually a bit more usable on the SK (rhodes kind of loses the attack). I just wish it hit "record", gonna have to mess around more tonight with a weighted keyboard hooked up.
