If its background comes from mid 90s hope they have had enough time to get it better

regarding that isn't longer an Oberheim product but from organ maker Viscount in Italy.

And yes YMMV , sadly isn't that easy to find them at stores to give it a try 
Enought time ago to ask if still their firmware is upgradeable and if they're still in production.

As they always say, your mileage may vary, but I had one for a couple of weeks around the time they first came out & couldn't wait to send
it back. Unless they have significantly updated it in the last few years almost everything out these days will sound much better. Then again,
one person's terrible is another person's great so you would have to try to audition one to really see - just make sure they have a generous
return policy.
