No doubt, Keith’s been handicapped by his hand problems.  The other problem with this show is there was no rehearsal.  This was something that really shouldn’t have happened, as this isn’t a band like Cream, where “we can get together and do an hour”.  Obviously.

I had intentionally avoided watching or listening to anything from this performance based on interviews I had seen with Lake and Palmer, and wish I hadn’t seen this.

Better Emerson stick to composing or performing material within his physical limitations than tarnish his legacy like Jimmy Page has.

Like I said previously, the performance was an embarrassment. Like many others in this group, ELP was a seminal moment in my musical development. Damn, I saw Greg Lake with King Crimson live in 1969 and ELP on their first American tour! Talk about being blown away.

Now to see them like this.. Well... Shocking...

Poor Keith is suffering from his physical issues, and its obvious...especially later in the concert when he is tiring. Lots of missed notes and chords. Greg Lake plays sloppy (although his voice still shines), and Carl does a decent job, until he rips his T shirt off and we see his pot belly hanging over his jeans. I thought I was watching a clip from Spinal Tap!

The sound of the concert also stinks. The Hammond is buried in the mix. You would think they would get that right. And you can't even hear his L100 for the first minute of Rhondo.

All this being said, Keith still plays better than most of us. But to try to pull off their same show from the 70's is a large challenge... And unfortunately they fell short.

I wish I could play like Emo even in his current state. I have not followed this group for awhile- what happened to his hand?....and back to my original question; Besides the Oasis, Moog and Hammond, what are those other keyboards he is using in this show?
