Subject:Re: Numa organ vs Mojo - HELP!
Manuel, here are my thoughts on your questions...
But, has the Mojo and the Numa Organ a "waterfall" keyboard?
- YES BOTH HAVE WATERFALL KEYBOARDS
Between the two, which is the best? (I like the CX-3 keyboard!)
- I'M NOT POSITIVE BUT I EXPECT THAT THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME KEYBED AND THE DIFFERENCE IS NEGLIGABLE, HOWEVER THE BUILD QUALITY OF THE MOJO IS A LITTLE BETTER,IT SEEMS TO HAVE HIGHER QUALITY SWITCHES, AND CONTROLS.
Has the Numa Organ and the Crumar Mojo better "waterfall" keys?
- AGAIN, I THINK THE KEYBOARDS AND THE FEEL ARE COMPARABLE
What kind of monitors / amps do I should use with Numa Organ / Crumar Mojo?
- I USE 2 QSC K10 MONITORS, AND THEY SEEM TO DO AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH ORGAN SOUNDS, I HEAR MORE WARMTH FROM THEM THAN OTHER AMPS/MONITORS, THEY ARE ALSO VERY POWERFUL AND THEY ALLOW ME TO BE HEARD OVER LOUD GUITAR PLAYERS! THE QSC'S ARE ONE OF THE BEST INVESTMENTS I EVER MADE (I HAVE TRIED ALMOST EVERY KEYBOARD AMP AVAILABLE AND NONE COME CLOSE TO THE QSC'S FOR ORGAN)
I used to play a Digital BX3, and transitioned from there to a NORD C1, then NORD C2, then to my Mojo, and along the way I owned a NUMA and a Hammond SK1. I didn't transition directly from my BX3 to my Mojo (there was several years and several different clones in between) so I can't recall the difference in the feel of the keyboards, which was better or worse. However, of all the clones I have used the C2 seemed a little bit stiffer than my C1, and the SK1 was quite noticably stiffer then my other clones. However, neither the BX3, C1, NUMA or my new Mojo felt stiff to me. Whether you choose the NUMA or the Mojo, I'm sure you will like it and get used to it very quickly.
Yes, the touch/feel of the two manuals on the Mojo are identical and the relationship between the two manuals is about the same as a real Hammond.. so it's very familiar and easy to go back and forth from top to bottom manuals, just like the real thing, and you don't have to worry about two keyboards shifting relative positions when you gliss etc.. if you're a jazz player I'm sure that having the traditional dual manual set up will be important to you!
Forget the Hammond, it's way too expensive, I think your best option is to pick up a Mojo (to streamline your keyboards) and perhaps consider trading your speakeasy/leslie for a pair of lightweight monitors. This could significantly reduce the weight and complexity of your rig.
The other option is to replace your CX3 with a NUMA but that really doesn't streamline your rig, unless you get rid of the speakeasy/leslie and replace it with a lighter amp/monitor and use the NUMA's internal sim.
There are my thoughts!!
