Subject:Re: If you can get your hands on a Motion Sound Pro3tm and Low Pro buy it
Did you adjust the rotating speeds?
I did not like the sound of the Motion Sound units until I got the rotation
speeds right.
I have had my units a couple of years and I have not been totally happy
with them - the main benefit being the ease of transport.
Then I spent quite a few hours adjusting the speeds - I lower both the fast
and slow until i got speeds that sounded good and pleasing to my ears.
After this adjustment I like the sound much more. In general i lowered the
speeds a little.
This improved the situation a lot - So now I really like the sound. But the
Pro3 top rotor units needs a lower rotor - LowPro or single rotor Leslie to
sound its best.
When I want to sound 100% I bring my 145.
When I want to have real fun I bring both the 145 and the Motion Sound rig
for dual Leslie setup.
When I want to go light but still sound ok I take the Motion Sound rig.
I have used PA and simulators but the sound is to Phased from all
simulators. I think this is due to the fact that they use a parametric
filter that sweeps as the rotor moves around - less treble when the rotor
is of axis. That sound bugs me in both the VB3, Vent and the C2d simulation.
You do not get that as drastically with a miked 145.
