I have to check if the boss was in stereo, I was thinking about that on my way to work. THat might account for some of the one dimentional thing is it wasn't recorded in stereo, although I can't see myself not recording it in stereo if it was available. I used one about 6 months, on a korg cx3, 1979 analog version. It was a marked improvement over the internal in that thing! The overdrive drove me nuts though, which is why I finally ditched it.
ANd yea, those 50C's are sleepers, they have a sound all their own, that's why I ended up getting two of them.
