Subject:Some great keyboard players from the past
Hi gang,
It was a beautiful day up here in Ottawa yesterday so I took a little hike through one of the nice walking and biking trails we have right within the city limits. I was listening to some tunes on the MP3 player that comes with my telephone and I was struck by two keyboard players from the past who really encompass the saying that less is more. One who I can identify is Lonnie Jordan from War, but this tune was from the first incarnation in which Eric Burdon was the lead vocalist. I was struck by some of the simple but groove-filled comping that he plays both on the piano and organ on the first few albums along with his later work with War after Burdon left. The other player which maybe some of you might be able to identify was the wonderful player who played with one of the greatest and under-rated Soul Singers of the past 50 years Billy Stewart. I love the playing of this guy. The hammond passages send chills up my spine a really soulful cat I wonder who it was?
