Subject:Re: Width of keys ...on some keyboards ....??
That's a problem with keyboards in general. I am not an expert but there seem to be at least two common measures regarding key width - depth, shape and action are different issues altogether - (I measured literally dozens of keyboards because I wanted to know, I just didn't have access to keyboards like vintage Rhodes or small analog synths like the Minimoog -
1) Piano (acoustic or 88 key digital), Hammond, pipe organ - roughly 16,5 cm (6 7/16 in) per octave - left edge of C to left edge of C above
2) 61 key synthesizer/digital keyboard - roughly 15,9 cm (6 1/4 in) per octave
So an octave is quite a bit shorter on the typical 61 key synths.
If your keys are narrower than the typical modern 61 key synth, you have a mini-keyboard. There were (and probably still are) models with very small keyboards, but I guess they aren't made to play demanding music.....
just my humble input,
Christian

All
Yes I have noticed the size (width) of keys on my Casio series Privia 330 seemed to be smaller in
width than i had ever noticed on any keyboard .....I did not measure them .....but it sure seemed so
I may be crazy ...I dont have the Casio Privia 330 anymore ...
Mike

This is surprising to me, I would not think that anyone would fool with the scale of a keybed, aside from the obvious mini-boards. I don't think I've seen anyone else mention this.
