Subject:Re: Less Expensive Alternative to Vent?
I would not discount @JackOverfull's seemingly tongue-in-cheek suggestion.
GSi's VB3 software comes with a rotary VST effect which can be run in a stand-alone mode. There are folks on this list who own BOTH ... the Neo Ventilator and VB3 ... who could offer a head-to-head comparison, were they to feel so inclined.
I know of at least one person here who has Mojo (essentially VB3-2 housed in a controller) AND a Vent, who has said that he does not feel the necessity of using a Vent when playing Mojo ... the quality of the VB3 rotary sim in Mojo, he has said, is "Vent-quality." This is, in essence, the VB3 rotary sim.
Sooo...if you already have an old laptop laying around, you can get what at least one very-picky organist who owns both evidently considers to be a "Vent-quality" rotary sim for a mere 50 Euros ... and it comes with a bonus B3 model that blows away just about everything else on the market today!
The best part? You can always download the demo from GSi's website and try it before you buy ... at least the VB3 portion ... I honestly do not know if you can demo the break-out rotary sim in this manner. But the VB3 demo should give you a pretty fair idea what your clonewheel could sound like through the sim, simply by playing the demo version with and without the rotary sim active.
Best,
Fox
