Cool.. Used to be in a ska band myself, a band called Bang Bang Lulu. We did gigs with Manners and The Beat a few times and we did about 60/40 cover/originals split. Once did a gig with Ranking Roger stood 2 feet behind me looking over my shoudler the whole set... that was character building but he was really complimentary after the gig so must have done something right. I find that ska fans are generally more open to originals than practically any other genre. No idea why that is? The Skanx should come down to the South Coast, I just played at a Ska Day in Southampton called SkaNation, about 2 weeks ago in fact. Headline was The Dualers, The Fliks were the only non ska band on the bill (the promoter likes us..). It was held in a pub and at mid afternoon there was 1000+ in the bar and the garden, totally heaving. The folks come out for Ska down South mate.
