Subject:Re: Anybody have any experience with a Korg sv1?

Hi Steve,

I have an SV-1 88 and absolutely love it. The pianos are killer and very much like the Kronos pianos. I love the RH3 action and retro look.

I think the thing I like bast about SV-1 though is the front-panel tweakability. There is so much you can do to modify sounds in real time, and I think ALL of the bread-and-butter sounds are great.

Will it replace your clonewheel? Nope ... but it WILL give you nice full-organ, all flutes and JOS bottom-3 drawbar sounds. Clavs are nice (auto-wah or pedal-control wah options), reed and tine pianos are very nice, nice pad-strings and synths and, particularly on soundset 2, some really nice useful splits.

What it DOESN'T do that really ticks me off is allow setup of your own splits and layers, on the fly or otherwise.

It's still my fave piano, short of the Kronos (though they're really pretty close) and my favorite Kronos key controller (my Kronos is a 61).

Hope this is helpful.

Best,
Fox
