Subject:Re: The Best Software Clone out there?

Thank you all for your ideas,

I am using SAVI host for the VB3 program - it appeared to be the easiest and simplest host for a single program. It looked perfect for me as I took my first "baby steps" into VSTs...

I have heard a lot about ASIO4ALL, but I thought that the M Audio drivers would be all that was unnecessary. I will consider using the ASIO4ALL if needed, although I do run into conflicting information on whether I need it or not?

I want to avoid turning sound drivers on and off, changing too many settings, sound card settings, etc... I was hoping that the MAudio Fasttrack Pro would be an easy solution!

I remain hopeful, and when I get home from work today I am going to fool around with it some more. Last night I found it difficult to make changes to the settings on the MAudio program. I would have to restart things quite often to make them take effect it seemed. Or they would not change for me (there was a message that it was "streaming at 44.1 or something like that) and I could not adjust the buffer size.

There was a page where I was changing the sample rate (I think), and although I lowered it by over 4 times I still had the latency. I did not have dropped notes in this instance, but still latency.

I wonder if I went with one of the newer M Audio products with USB 2.0? I feel like something simple is hanging-up the data. It must be a lot to:

- transfer MIDI to the Fasttrack,
- then Fasttrack USB to the computer,
- then audio via USB back to the Fasttrack to its 1/4" outputs.

Would using Cantible light make a difference? SAVIhost looked really simple and small.

Thanks again for all your time!
