Subject:Re: OT: What kind of music and where?
I tried the microSTATION at a local music store a year or so ago and found the keyboard very responsive and easier to play than I would have thought. I thought it's sounds were awesome (through headphones). At the time, though, I really wasn't in the market to buy. Recently, when I began seriously looking around for a keyboard to compliment the pianos & left-hand bass of the PX-3, I revisited the microSTATION. While at Sweetwater Sound's webpage for the Korg I watched the 2 demo videos including Daniel's "Virtual B3" feature. That sold me! As good as the Hammond and Leslie sounds came across on the videos they are even more impressive live. I was particularly taken back by how well the adjustable C/V sounded. I always found that to be critical when trying out a Clone. I also like how you can adjust the lower 4 drawbars with one knob and the upper drawbars with the other. OK... it's not the same as getting to adjust individual
drawbars but when you want to gradually (or dramatically) change the sound, you can do it quite effectively with those two knobs. The 3rd knob adjusts grunge and the 4th adjusts the vibrato or chorus. Picking out one of a variety of drawbar presets and then working the 4 knobs works out extremely well for my situation where I only need the Hammond on an occasional basis and not all through the gig.

As a fan of downsized instruments, I almost bought one twice. I was ultimately turned back each time by the Leslie emulation. But yes, Daniel did a nice job on his set of B3 patches. I'm still tempted, I think that keybed, which you can now get in their downsized 61-controller, feels and responds great.
