Subject:Gigging Using Real Leslies
On this forum, I am one of the rare, probably extremely rare, people who play gigs where most of the equipment stays set up between gigs. I play at a church weekly on Sunday mornings. I use a Korg CX-3 through a Speakeasy pre-amp into a Leslie 145. I do haul the CX-3 back and forth between home and church each week, but the Leslie stays put. For at-home practice, and at outdoor or off-campus gigs, I run the CX-3 through an Art tube pre-amp into a Ventilator and that into the PA.
If I didn't have the equipment situation I have and had all normal-setup/take-down gigs, I am quite sure I would NOT haul the Leslie around and would use the Vent. If the church gig ever ends, the Leslie will come home, where I am sure it will last longer than I will.

>We see a lot less talk about using actual leslies these days. Many of us have discovered that it is a lot of crap to be dragging around, not to mention the gas expense of driving a large vehicle to haul everything.
