Subject:Re: RIP Steve Hayes
From what I know Steve was considered to be somewhat of a maverick among some of the more "purist" techs and designers out there.
Fortunately he was one of the few who took the upcoming trend of digital organ clones seriously. Many Hammond and leslie techs didn't want to know and still don't want to know about digital gear.
We see a lot less talk about using actual leslies these days. Many of us have discovered that it is a lot of crap to be dragging around, not to mention the gas expense of driving a large vehicle to haul everything.
I noticed a lot less participation from Steve on the forum after Ventilators and Numas and Mojos hit the scene. I would be curious to know how many of us are still using leslies on routine gigs. My guess is that the numbers are down to just a few.
Things have changed quite a bit in the clone world in just a few short years. I think we have some great options now and things are getting lighter, that much is clear.
